i generally agree with what xander has already posted...and i've posted my fair share in this thread already. the arowana combo (lei, jardini) in this case was already ill-advised and the OP generally ignored that. a 500g tank isn't going to solve aggression problems, although they may occur a bit less frequently in the big tank (doesn't mean they will decrease in intensity).

Aggression no, feeding incident yes (first and only), tank twice as big as current tank perfect for now.
Outdoor pond for the gar definately expected in the future.
Planning, upsizing and needs of fish all well planned for.

I understand that you guys offer good advice on gars but poly in particular needs to offer advice for the sake of the fish and leave his arrogance at the door. His comments are really degrading when people need advice for the sake of their fish, maybe some sort of attention from the opposite sex may relieve his tension.

Second.. under what condition do I have to offer "advice for the sake of the fish"? whatever the hell that is supposed to mean. The advice I give IS actually for the sake of the gar and it is the interest of the GAR I place beyond all other aspects in any of these asinine, retarded and obliviously ignorant posts.

I'm not here getting paid to happily give you all the answers to all of your questions in some way that makes you all warm and fuzzy. No I do this for free and on my own time out of the interest of Gar husbandry and the welfare of Captive gars worldwide. I have no desire to make the ignorant sound smart or give advice to those that will never use it anyhow. What point is it to waste my time on an ingrate when there may be a legitimate individual to spend time with.

Despite the fact it is people like me that pretty much give all the valid information on this site on this subject, you idiots seem to want some ego stroke for all your ignorance and be treated somehow like your some consumer and with it have an expected level of customer service. I'm supposed to be a person providing you with some sort of service.

Well I'm not providing you with a service (I get little out of this) and I'm not obligated to give or divulge information to you. I'm not really obligated to be nice to you. I could very well care less what you have to say as your fully inconsequential to my life or my work. This site is totally inconsequential to my life or my work. I in reality have zero reason to involve myself at all with this site. I only bother for the above mentioned "advice for the sake of the fish"..

Wow! I really appreciate your expertise now. Not that i didnt before, but even moreso now. Strong words, and they are all right.

It seems that the gar community or tankmate selection is even more concerning than stingrays with plecos, yet much more subtle.

There is no "one situation fits all rule" and to say there is one is ridiculously false. Different tanks with different dynamics exist. There are many factors that one needs to apply to a given situation and to generalize all as one is just stupid.
