I think you are replying to the first post, that has already been answered and the newest quiz is on page 9.

thus far very very few have got either of the ID's correct:)

I have no doubt about that... those were two really tough pictures! I went with two Atractosteus species but I really wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong on both. My main two issues with IDing gar are YOY specimens 5" and under and I still have some issues with FL/Spotted sometimes. I hope these quizzes will help me overcome those issues.

hey, what about the head shape & structure led you to conclude shortnose? also, why does the white line point to trop? im curious as to how u came to that conclusion as well.

the only pic i have seen of yoy trop they had that stripe/white line...i am just geussing cause i have only seen a few pics...i am most likely wrong...:grinno:

they are hard pics...i know i am not getting both right...

Hmm, its a hard call on that first pic, but looking through the ID's, and from having raised seven shorties from yoy, I just feel like that looks more like a shorty. I could be wrong though :).

The second one I stand by either washed out or xanthic trop.

Answers soon?

Yes, please, I want to know just how wrong I am...

Funny, I was thinking the same thing about me.

haha conner, you're pretty wrong, sorry:P haha mading, you very narrowly missed both answers. narrowly refering to your explanations rather than the actual answers.

i'll leave it to solomon to post the answers when he deems fit. although i more or less had the same reasons for the ID's and he's gone thru it with me, he'd probably do a much much better job at elaborating them to everyone.
