this is going to be interesting...:D i'd like to see what madding & lep plat have to say too before dropping any more hints, although richard's (incredibly ambiguous) hint won't be caught on by anyone who hasn't been reading threads at least a couple of years old...

the second pic i have had some flip floping on...idk why, but it is strange...it looks like a yoy trop, but for some reason i keep thinking that it isn't...i feel that the white stripe on the top of the head is something that points to the trop, but i really don't know for sure and am just geussing on it cause i haven't had much exp. with them...i am farely sure on the first id...

hey, what about the head shape & structure led you to conclude shortnose? also, why does the white line point to trop? im curious as to how u came to that conclusion as well.

I will post my answers sometime this morning. Funny that I'll have more time to look at them at work then I do at home.

Can someone re-post the first picture? The link is not opening for me at my work computer.

My guess for picture number two is YOY tropical gar. The weird coloration is throwing me off, but I've decided to just ignore it and go with my instincts. I came to tropical purely because of the broad snout structure. Even in such a YOY fish it seems different than a Lep. to me.

Deciding it was an Atra. species led me to tropical because A) Solomon and I were looking at some YOY Cuban pictures a couple of months ago and those fish did not look like picture #2 and B) Gator gars are very obvious in distinction.

So it was sort of an elimination process that led me to guess a (flushed out?) YOY Tropical for picture #2.

Please note that I am likely wrong. :)

working now?

It tells me to click the link and then opens a box that just loads forever.

Now it works, thanks. :)

I believe that picture #1 is a YOY Cuban. The end of its snout and the heavy lateral line with the patternless back reminds me of some pictures I have seen.

So my final answers are:

1) Cuban
2) Tropical
