This is going to be a slow going winter project. The plan is a 450g tank with a 55g plastic drum as my filter with a 3000gph pump. My only concerns are heating in the winter. This is going to be for my TSN and Arowana. I will most likely add a few other big cats in there. Here are a few drawings of it and the dimensions are 120'' Long X 30'' Wide X 36'' tall filled to about 30''s

Nice! I've been considering doing something similar. What will be the filtration media on the 55g drum?
I have access to 55g drums through work and was considering using one as a filter as well. But I had planned to set it on a pedestal and pump into the top of the drum through filter socks and have it drain into the pond but it looks like you have that reversed?

Heating may be a bit of an issue if the garage is not heated. What are the plans for heat ? I would definitely insulate the tank side and bottom and cover it to prevent heat loss. I'm sure there will lots of flow so thermal layering won't be an issue. Looking forward to seeing this put together .

Looks like its gunna be cool. I would lift it off the ground and open the footprint to 120"x 36". It's only 6" but gives your fish a little more elbow room .

Well heating is really my only concern. The garage is not heated but I can leave the garage door leading to it open since I do not pay utillities. I was thinking there has to be a way to use like a water tank heater and a thermostat.

I am thinking, a 1500w water tank heating element is 30 bucks for a good one. Those last SEVERAL years with an insulated tank. So I should easily get 1-3years from a single element. Just have to figure out a thermostat
