Picked up this guy as a tank mate for my wolf, I was told he was hyper aggressive and fully grown and of the gymnogeophagus group?
The LFS owner forgot the second part of its name.
He is now in a grow out as the wolf bit him a couple of times a drew blood, that's failed uuurgh.

Not sure what kind. But the one thing I’d be sure not to do is mix cichlids w/ wolfs of any kind. They are unpredictable and unlike cichlids, one bite could be the end.

I thought the rainbow wolves were the only “schooling” wolffish, smaller and more easily communed, no?

I was only going to comment on the nice wolf!

I’ve never seen a geo quite like that- very curious what it is myseld

Here's a member of the braziliensus clade to compare (A/B) it is the species iporagensis. There are plenty more newly described species and local variants in that clade, that vary in color and other slight differences.

But I also flipped thru my copy of Weidners "S Amer Eartheaters, and the more I looked, the more possibilities popped up

I have a Purple Wolf that was in an aquarium with Cichlids when it was small. The Wolf is in with a few Cichlids now in my 180 gallon but I have seen it flare up at a Ornate Bichir . As with most depends on the species and personality of the fish.

I would assume wolves would dislike bichirs and pikes- based on body shape

I thought brasiliensis originally but the guy is quite knowledgeable and was adamant it isn't brasiliensis.... Hmmm.
I hope so, I love brasiliensis tbf.
