Geo species I'd please?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
After seeing the video, I am more convinced than ever, it is a species from the braziliensus complex, as to which exact species, an expert would need to be called in with a braziliensus taxonomic key to count rays, and scales.
I also doubt that that wolf fish will ever allow any other tank mates in that tank.
The territory is its.

Cheers duanes, yeah the more I look at it I think the LFS owner was mistaken, emaciated brasiliensis agreed.
He has been keeping it at room temperature due to the species he stocked it as, does seem much happier at 24deg.

Very pretty fish whatever it is. I would agree looks like a braziliensis, but perhaps a bit different. Probably another closely related species like duanes suggested. Nice wolf and geo man.

They are cool, like seagulls. They swarm around, rip up mussel and silversides like piranha... Epic gang of 6 pal.

The guy where I bought this fish tx the guy that traded him in.
Apparently
gymnogeophagus rhabdotus

Is what he believes it is, I'm in convinced, I'm going with duanes duanes on this one.

The Gymno rhabdotus complex look very much like the Geo braziliensus complex, and I might consider them to be the link between the two genera. So not that far fetched to be true. And if they are rhabdotus, think of them as any other Gymnogeophagus which need a cool down period yearly.
There are plenty of images to google.
