Geos dropping like flies

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As an update, I still have the two remainingRed Heads that seem to be acting fine. A little aggression has spiked up now that the numbers have reduced, however. The larger male will chase the other RH around, not terribly bad, but more than I have seen in the past.
No split fins or apparent stress for the smaller guy, so just seeing how things go.

There are a ton of things to consider but one thing I haven't seen mentioned in this thread is air supply. I have had 6 out of 8 red heads die over night when the air pump broke and I have heard similar stories from other hobbiests. I was fine with a power head making waves and I moved it and next morning everything was on the bottom. Do you have an air stone or anything?

True. Good catch. Meant to mention it but it slipped my mind.

This is a very good point, in my Geophsgine tanks, I also use venturi valves on all influents, so there is generally a lot of current, and break up of surface tension.
And a few years back when a influent valve was pluugged a number of Geo's came close to death with 24 hours.
