I think he meant singularly as in one EBJD, not one sole fish in the tank.:)

Correct. 1 EBJD not 2 of them.

EBJD's are beautiful man, full of personality. I think you would enjoy the tank even with just one fish in it. Hope you come to your conclusion soon because I want to see it setup! HURRY!

The entire weight of the tank, water, stand, and decorations is distributed over 648 sq. inches. It is pretty much the same as getting 5 average size guys to stand next to each other in the same space.

65 x 8.5 = 552
65 tank = 100
65 stand = 50
100 lbs gravel/decor = 100

802 lbs / 648 = 1.24 lbs per sq. inch

40 x 8.5 = 340
40 tank = 60

rest is the same so

652 - 400 = 252

802 - 252 = 550

550 / 648 = .85 lbs per sq. in.

1.24 - .85 = .39 lbs per sq in. difference

Nothing to be worried about.

Just picked up the tank, filter, heater, etc. today... 40G Breeder. ;) I'm impressed with how roomy it is despite it just being 40 gallons.

It'll be a week or so before I even fill it to begin cycling, though. So I still have plenty of time to make my mind up. I have to say, I saw some Firemouths at Petco today, and I remembered why I like them so much.... Time will tell what I get. I have it narrowed down to 20 now.

Firemouths are normally peaceful cichlids I dont think it would be a problem with the with the GK espically if you got the FM as a juvie it should be all fine and dandy if you ask me:naughty:

man i know you dont want anybody tell you that you need a bigger tank for those fish cuz you know better but come on! seriously for the fishes sake put them in the bigger tank the fish will NOT be unhappy!!!

I got a steal on a pair of baby Green Severums today. I saw them in the store, and I couldn't walk out of the store without them.

There were 3 or 4 of them in the 10 gallon tank mixed with a bunch of Harlequin Rasboras. The sign said "sm. Green Severums: $3.19; med. Green Severums: $5.19". I needed them.

I bought the two little guys, which I am almost certain is a male/female 'pair'. Then, with one of my Jedi Mind Tricks, I made the cashier forget to charge me for one of them. So I got myself a pair of Sevs for three frickin dollars. :headbang2

They are alive and well in my tank, by themselves, in the 40b. Hopefully they will still be doing well when I wake up. Both seemed to adjust quite quickly. They simply didn't know what to do with themlseves with all the new space.

Next weekend, or perhaps a bit sooner, I will introduce my BGK...
He's not an aggressive fish, but he's very curious. I am a little nervous about him.

Yeah every fish would prefer a tank as large as possible so why don't you just go to everyone and tell him/her to get a 1000-gallon tank?

Actually, fish are much better off in their natural environment, so why don't you release all your fish back into the Amazon? There, they'll have all the space in the world and WILL NOT BE UNHAPPY!!!
