Getting my first boat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey everyone needs obsessive money pits to throw our hard earned dollars at.

with gas prices the way they are im glad i didnt buy the waverunners i was supposed to last year....

With that color I think a huge MFK decal would look awesome on the sides. Have fun with it. I'm hoping to build my boat within the next 5 years.

It looks like a good deal. I would recommend taking it for a test drive before you buy it because there could be hidden problems that the seller is not telling you about

I really want a boat, but my friends tell me it's not worth it (sea farer, not lake boat btw)

I've heard 3 wise bits of advice about boats...

1) it's better to have a friend with a boat than have a boat
2) the two best days in a boaters life are the day the buy it, and the day they sell it
3) a boat is basically a hole in the ocean that you throw money into

You're friends probably have never owned a boat - I love mine!

1) You're right - My friends do have it pretty good... :)
2) The day I bought it WAS good. Every time I start it up is even better!
3) Anything good costs money. I bought my boat new, so I dropped a big chunk at once. In the last nine years I've spent $100.00 max on it, not counting gas.

Rallysman, you won't regret it. The boat looks good as it is, I wouldn't do too much to it. The motor could be the best OR the worst part of the deal, hard to tell without looking.

Happy Boating!

Of course, I wouldn't be a good consumer if I didn't totally own it before I bought it...:D I think 100 hours in 11 years is pretty good thats less than 10 hours a year ridden average, with trailer and ski. Just a little more than rally paid for a lot more fun, and not to mention the ladies...:grinno: Me and my dad got a 1948 2 hp johnson that my grandad use to own running a cpl years ago, some stuff is just priceless. That's what I get out of being on the water.

Jet skis are just annoying. I hate trying to fish when they're around. I like to be able to move around a bit too.

when we lived on the lake my parents said the same thing, but I love them. It is annoying as hell though when they come rocketing into coves, one thing I don't do or at least try not to do.

i have to agree with dan feller. there is nothing better than being out on th water early in the morning! ahhh the smell of exhaust
