Getting my first boat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LOL! Doubt it. That would kill me on gas and I don't want to tug it through the mountains.

nice looking boat. it looks like from that last pic it is a tri-hull? if so good choice, they are uber stable for fishing. What brand is it? Did I read it was a Glastron? The motor sounds good in the video, I could check more importantly how it shifts into R and N, make sure that cable is in good shape and works smoothly with no major banging or anything. Good luck with it, I have never been happier the day my dad and I picked out a boat, and there are plenty of days I would rather put that ***** in the yard for sale but the days you are out in the water, catching some rays, drinking beers, fishing all that disappears and you remember why you dont mine bleeding into the engine trying to get it running in the middle of the night before you make the trip haha I mean the boat always runs great right up until the night before you take them out right? haha you will need a big shovel to get all the cash in there it requires to keep em floating but they are still the best investment we have ever made!

This one is a Caravelle Trihull. All of the control cables are new and it shifts flawlessly. The lower unit was fully services by a marina a few months ago.

He started it today before I brought it home and it fired right up and purred like a kitten. The engine is just as clean on the inside as it is on the outside. It's spotless. I think it's cleaner than the engine in my car! I can't wait to get this thing on the water, and I'm glad that it's such a simple boat.

Sounds like it should be very fun. Great that it sounds like it needs nothing before hitting the water. And you bought it right when summer is coming up too. Can't blame you on wanting to "keep it simple".. You'll probably have more fun that way. Not even my boat and I'm kinda stoked for ya.. :)

Levi, once the river goes down (if it ever will! :irked: ) it is mandatory you bring it down and I will guarantee you the best fishing trip of your life! Stripers, big cats, hybrids, drum, ect all day long until your arms get tired!

Sounds like you made a good choice man. I can't wait to buy my own boat someday. Where are you at in Indiana? I have not had a single chance to go fishing since I have been out here. I don't know anyone that fishes in Chicago, there is a guy in out MN office that fishes, but its a little tough to drive 8 hours to get on his boat.

Hope you put some serious hours on that bad boy, have a great time!

Sounds awesome. I'd love to put that thing on the river.

I'm about 40 minutes north of indy, but I'll mostly be taking the boat to the mississinewa reservoir which is a bit closer to Chicago.

BOAT SAFETY, while boats are fun, watch out for trees that are above water at low tide, and below water at high tide. You may hit it at 25 MPH at high tide, and have to get towed back in, only to find out that the entire lower half of the motor needs to be replaced.
