Needless to say its not too much of an eyesore and it worked great, but the kicker is when its time to change the media its kind of hard to open the tray when they are 12 inch long each and they face each other with only 6 inchs of inbetween room, so it lasted awhile and got very few media changes, only reason i made new one cause it was so damn hard to change i had to dissasemable one tupperware piece at a time..

so you ever have that problem when you go to feed your fish...put the food in and it goes right to the overflow, just what i wanted to do is feed my filters....well i have seen the feeding rings at various places and always thought they were too small not big enough for a few big fish to eat out of, well i came up with this idea lol

its a tupperware bowl

lol it is black in a couple of spots cause i had to warm it up with a lighter to bend it but once i got it level it worked great if you have goldfish, i don't have anything huge but when the oscar came up for feeding time everything stayed in the ring untill they started hitting the top and created a wave effect and knocked all the food out, it could be fixed by haveing taller edges and would have looked better painted but i just moved the overflow instead lol

oh yea this is when you get them nasty micro bubbles from a drip plate or whatever causes it..my trickle filter was causeing lots of micro bubbles to be thrown back into the tank from the sump's pump so i siliconed a box together and stuffed a pad before the pump, needless to say it worked very well and stayed in till setup was takin down
DSCF1933.jpg

this was on my first setup for my return it had 1 inch ID tubeing siliconed into a 15in long 1in wide pvc pipe, silicone did hold good i was suprised and it did work well, but i replaced it with a standard hang on the back adjustable return

oh yea and this is before the 2nd container was added on the 50 sump

Nice box setup but what is that blue thing in the picture and what were the zippy ties for below it?

Seems that Midnight has missed this so I'll answer on his behalf, The Blue thing you see there is actually a couple of Bungee cords that he uses to hold the lid down tight ;)

the Zip ties are holding a filter which Mightnight has made.. if you look in the bottom of the tub you'll see a small pump which pumps water up the hose into the end of the tube which is filled with various media and then it trickles out the other end... I personally have dubbed this the midnight special :grinno:

I vote for a DQ... that looks WAY to Good to be Ghetto :D

thank you for clearing that up for me I did a little research on it last night and found the 8 page thread he had about it, yes very nice transporter maybe incorporate some sort of handles but still very cool idea.

and thank you lol all in all it was half way decent its just everything ended up with a problem besides the last pic with just one container..but ty

i liked the sump- mine won't look half as good :) but that tupperware feeding ring is awesome

I think of instead of going with a wood box around it I would have ghetto'd it up and used cargo straps and duct tape! :)

And as far as the sump, I wouldn't consider that too ghetto. I think it looks way to nice to be ghetto!

you all know i'm not gonna let this thread die right:D

here’s my latest addition to my tank-HOB W/D ingredients: 1 pool skimmer cage, 2 scrubbies, some syringe casing shavings, 1 tupperware lid, misc tubing, 1 desk fountain pump.

(and no these are not going to be permanent so but work great until i finish my sump-which will be amazing! relative to now it will be my masterpiece-;))

anyways enjoy

So here's just a general question. When do we get from ghetto to just plain retarded? Cause I know I could really do somethings retarded as all hell!

here's my ghetto indoor pond. im using a 1/4hp wayne sump pump pushing out somewhere around 5k gallons per hour. with mechanical filtration pre pump goes in the hose in the top of the rubbermaid, falls through a rack with filter mat on it, into the pool in the bottom full of bio-balls then falls out the pvc back into the pond.
