hey yall. gotta say thanks for actually keeping this thread running. i haven't been on in forever due to my recent lack of employment

anyways great stuff, esp like the filter sock(guess quotes won't work since it IS a sock

i hope to be on more often and post some of my other diy, getting more creative since i got no stinkin income

here is mine. i made a pvc overflow that drains into my "bio tower". its full of bioballs and phosphorus rings at the bottom. my canister filter started leaking so i stuck it in with the biotower. its pumped back up by ac50.

i thought that being as i have not been here for a while i would post my 20Long in tank sump DIY. not my most ghetto by a long shot but it will have to suffice until i get back into the swing
1. materials
2. rough idea
3. cut and painted
4. siliconed in(this was i PITA since it was my first time
so a little messy)
5. view of sump area- will be adding drip plate and scrubbies
6. view of full tank(better lighting to come but won't be ghetto since its now for my ex and she likes things to be "nice looking" whatever the ---- that means)
this will be run by a powerhead with a tube to the bottom when i can work it in and i will probably start a new thread but i thought i would share.

Ghetto Pleco Cave: Star Wars Special Edition collector Slurpee Cup sans bottom:
I needed a pleco cave in a pinch because the plec and my apure catfish were fighting over the single log in the tank for a hiding spot. Since the catfish is strong enough to MOVE the log around the tank to suit his needs, my plec was getting pissy about the whole thing. Now for the punch line... plec still refusing to give any more ground than necessary, completely ignoring the new hiding spot

latest ghetto item-was tired of using the python to clean gravel so finally built an air-driven vac. this is by far the simplest and best diy i have done, i recc making one just to try it out, who knows you may like it
no peer pressure, just try it once. how do you know you won't like it if you never tried it. just one time and i promise i'll stop bugging you

there's a thread for this but it's pretty long. but if you want details just skip through to the end. just a UGF tube, airlines, a plastic bottle and an air pump. it does work with just a single air line and can just pinch the line to adjust it you don't want to use a valve.
seriously though this thing works so well i'll never use the siphon again(don't worry still doing w/c, but will probably only do a quick skim with it)
let me know what you all think, cause i crave validation that i make ghetto
