Ghost Knife eating other fish

Check everywhere in the aquarium, every single nook and cranny including the filter, even if you think there's a spot that there is no way it could possibly be. Then do the same thing in the immediate vicinity of the aquarium. Don't forget to check your nets and buckets either. After that, start looking around the rest of whatever room you have it in. If you don't see it, you either didn't look hard enough or you washed it away with the water change.

Hi all,

Newbie here but I was wondering if anyone has had experiences of ghost knife fish eating others?

To put this into context, my Ghost knife is only small, about 5cm. I had a 5-6cm blue eyed cichlid that has vanished from my tank. Honestly, I can't find any trace of it. I've lifted every ornament and looked everywhere but nope, he's gone...
I have had a few people tell me that the GK will actively seek out other fish at night and feed on them...is this a possible explanation to my missing cichlid situation? I might add, I have 4 serpae tetras in this tank as well as a female betta and a small pleco...aside from my angel fish, the GK would have taken out the biggest fish in the tank. I would have thought he would go for something smaller?

I love my GK and I really don't want to rehome unless I have to...any advice is appreciated 🙏
Find em yet?

I had a peacock gudgeon go missing for over 6 weeks soon after introduction to the tank, I was convinced it was fish food. Then one day there it was, swimming happily along. Unfortunately it sounds like your cichlid may not be so fortunate if you've checked everywhere. Still I wouldn't worry about the BGK unless it takes out the rest of the stock, probably a one-time unlucky accident.

Sadly my cichlid is still missing. As for him getting anywhere in a vac or filter or tube, this fish was simply too big to go anywhere near any of those. I have checked all over the floor around the tank etc and nothing. I'd say he will never be found now, most likely any trace of him has now been eaten.

:(

I’m not sure if you said this but when was the last time you did a water Change, if you did it recently and uncarefully it might have died from ph/temp shock
