That stuff looks like the Cichlid Pellets I feed to my RTGG's.
I think if you just use Ehiems Bio Ceramic pieces it would more than enough.

I think master Tequila was referring to the media as opposed to the canister, to be honest any good media will do, in my book eheim = expensive for not much gain:naughty: I believe this is the third time in a week we've agreed on something but that media does look like pellets to me as well;)

 I looked into that a while back, our old friend Mr shipping was the problem:(

Update on the tank of George, I think we have small teeth, it's difficult to tell as he's been using them on the on the dollar who has been dieing for a day now, it's in a large net near the powerhead for maximum aeration. Normally I would never let a fish go on in this state but it has had amazing
recoveries in the past
so I'll give it another day to see if it will recovers before I stop the suffering. I hope it does recover I've had it for four years, I'm not normally one for over sentiment with fish but I will report on it if one dies. Lets hope it makes it through, but I doubt it:(

BTW lou, I've never tried carrots;)

We don't have any Eheim products here... they would be much too expensive if ever they were imported anyway...

The Aquaclay does look like pellets, doesn't it? :) That's the type used for filtration... there's another type used as substrate for planted tanks and I've heard it works wonderfully :)

The tank looks all clear today :) Guess the starving of the fish has allowed the filters and the bacteria in the gravel to take the upper hand :)

Glad it all worked out for you in the end, aquaclay pellets :headbang2

Got the Melafix :) Will dose daily for 7 days...
Melafix treatment is over and I've just done a 50% water change in the small tank :) The fish look so much better now... fins and scales healing nicely :) They are no longer shy now :)

As usual after any water changes, they will remain without food for 24 hrs :)

BTW, cleaning the tank is such a breeze now... I just have to move the tube gently over the surface of the sand and all the dirt get sucked out... I love the sand substrate! :)

Fantastic news, melafix really can't be beaten for an all round treatment:headbang2

Does the sand not come up with the dirt with it being so fine?

For a change I got Mr picky a watermelon, Mr picky is no longer that picky;)

Ok ignore the scum on the glass and the slightly out of focusness of this shot but I've been practicing the art of Mauritian patience and this is the best I've done so far, not even comparable to Lou's close ups:irked: but we have teeth, very small but they are there and I want to practice for when they have developed, what do you think?:

I normally let the fish remain without food for 24 hours after a water change to give the filter(s) a chance to really get the upper hand on the breaking down of toxins :) And, this I've read somewhere, is good for the fish as it supposedly allows their system to adapt to the change in water chemistry (must find that article again)...

As in regards to the sand, I am very careful while vacuuming - moving the tube very slowly over the surface of the sand. The dirt gets sucked up and the sand particles eddy but don't go up... along with that, I put a bucket at the other end of the tube (which is on the shower floor). When the bucket gets filled, the water overflows into the drain but the dirt and any sand which might have been sucked would stay at the bottom of the bucket... fortunately, no sand grain got sucked - only the dirt :) If ever some sand would have been sucked out, I would then rinse it and put it back in the tank :) Sounds like a lot of work but hey... ;)

Brother Yanbbrox, your pictures are getting better :) Keep practicing :)

Where are your tanks, if I remember correctly you live on one floor but other peeps live on another, if they're in your living area I couldn't stand the staring out and give up and feed them;)

You must be doing something right, the flourite in the discus tank only takes a brief glance at the tank for it to jump out:ROFL:
