Well, I used to have a Premier DC 3320 before... 3.2 megapixels... now I'm using a Nikon D60 (10 megapixels)... got fed up of Point-and-Shoots and moved to the wonderful (yet tough) world of DSLRs..

I suggest you use the viewfinder rather than the LCD screen when taking pictures... trust your eyes more than you would trust what the camera sees... and ensure you are focusing on the subject rather than the background...
For example, in the picture of your poor maimed hand, the background is sharper while your hand (which is the subject of the picture) is blurred... it is rather hard at times to notice the correct focus on the LCD screen... that's why I heartily recommend using the viewfinder
Please do a few tests and let me know what you think.
