one drop of clove oil for ever 3 cups of tank water does the trick. No more, no less.
That is what I used to put out my Brazilian puffer for his teeth trimmings.
I also used it for a full grown Oranda's wen. It had covered its entire front half of it's body covering the eyes.
I have been contemplating surgery on my SRT . He has gill curl from an ammonia spike during a tank cycle.
I have been iffy to do it. First I think I will try the massaging method.I hope it's gill curl and not just a short plate that I never noticed.

You just put them in the solution till they tip over...not too long and make sure to have the fresh water ready to recover them...not just plop them back in the main tank...I used 2-2gallon tubs...

Is this still fixable???
It looks like the one I saw on YouTube for "Gill Curl" operation...
So I think if you were to trim the damaged tissue off it would regrow back...The main thing is to make sure the water is correct so as to prevent it from happening again...

I know my water is good. I have a black aro in there with no problems. I do 1 or 2, 30-40% WC every week. So its looking like surgery is my only option?

I was thinking about trying the massage method too, but I have 2 problems with that.

1. I dont want to stress the fish to the point of exhaustion, plus my black is way more skittish, and probably would get exhausted as well.

2. I tried to scare it today because I needed it to move to the other side of the tank, and he could have cared less that I was there.

So, with that. Can I sedate the fish instead of exhausting the fish? Then do the massage technique.
