maybe its late and im reading this wrong but you just said it only going to be half full but full like a fish tank...??
if its half full or totaly full you still have to design the tank to take the full forces and then some..., like i said i have seen turtls rammin the glass, thats not good, bit the braces wont help with that, the only thing that the braces do is to orevent bowing, you have to imagin this like a thin piece ot plastic thats hanging from each end, its going to sag, in the middle, well you need to prevent that, it this was 3/8" glass or better yet 1/2" glass you can get away with one brace or even no braces, my 120 is 5' long with none but its 1/2" thick...
with the water full, you can go with 3 2" or 2 3", not 1 ony width and 4 is just silly...
these are just guesses and all based on observation, the glass will gold up to the full 18" hight but wont last the length...
its your choice to go with the 2 braces with ~23" gap braces or 3 braces with ~16" gap, 3 is stronger and safer but 2 is ok and not too little...
