sorry but i had to laugh at that... and i was really done arguing... but i could say yes i can make an opinion on anything, that doesnt mean it has to be taken seriously or attacked, if it bothers you then disregard it thats all

i just hate badmouthing without a reason besides the internet said so.

maybe so.

but pretending that all the negative reviews don't exist or just sweeping them under the carpet is accomplishing nothing. especially for potential buyers.

no one wants to order a tank, have it show up sloppy, and then be told off when you inquire about it.

thats not fair for anyone who spends their hard earned cash on this great hobby.

There is no arguement that their service sucks. The only counter arguement, if you call it that, is that some people managed to walk away with a "normal" customer experience with them. I spent major bucks with them and they treated me like I was a bother at the end simply becaused I called them on their mistakes. And, btw, I'm one the most easy going people, I'm not pushy and never asked for anything. I let a lot of stuff slide off my back. But the attitude that they exude, seemingly on purpose, just to make sure, in case there was any doubt, that they couldn't care less whether you exist or not. Pile that on top of incredible incompetence, and you have a recipe for a great purchase experience. They seemed to act normal for me until I asked them about all the screw ups, then they'll give you the who gives a crap attitude.

Charter in the midwest was/is the same way. They have a monopoly in the areas they service, so they literally don't give a **** and have a record for the worst customer service. Well guess what is going to happen as soon as there is a competitor in any of their service areas? Now they're in bankrupcy. Joy.

Making aquariums isn't rocket science. This board is testament to that. A person could do what they do working out of a garage. They're making it easy for someone to take their business and someone will I expect. A new upstart with the same skill would already be at an advantage simply because they don't have the bad reputation that glasscages skillfully racked up in short order.

I guess thats why they are so cheap compared to other custom companies?

You must have a nice garage :)

As far as upstarts having an advantage.... if it was that easy it would already be done. Of course there are many alternatives to Glasscages so to some extent is has been done, but Glasscages is still in business. It is easy to incorporate a business, but hard to finance it and get people aware of it. Then have to either charge higher prices or high volume/low margins. An upstart of any business is very difficult and the name recognition Glasscages has combined with the facilities, distribution, and supplier relationships they have in place already have puts upstarts at a disadvantage.

Glasscages is terrible, I have already posted this before we ordered a 12x3x3 tank around 800+ gallon from them over 1.5 years ago. It was installed at a catering hall in NY. After two months the bottom seam blew out and dumped all water on floor. When I called about the problem all they would do was try blame problem on stand construction or any other reason they could find so they would not be responsible. They sent me some strips of glass and asked me to repair the seam from inside with these strips and silicone them along the area were the seam failed. To me this was simply putting a bandaid on the problem and my responce to them was when I make this repair who is to say there will not be another seam that will now fail from pressure, They had no answer to that. Ok so we repaired the seam and started the tank up, two months later I get call from catering hall that the tank is leaking water again from seam along the bottom front now and that there was a party going on in the room and wanted to know what to do. I informed them to move the people out of room and I would be there in one hour. I arrived at the place to find some of the waiters outside the room crying, went inside and found the room was destroyed water, glass and fish everywere. It seems that about 20 minutes earlier the front panel let go and sent glass and water everywere knocking people down who were cleaing the room getting it ready for next party. There were pieces of glass everywere thank god no one was injured anyone standing directly in front of the tank at the time would have been cut to pieces. When I informed glasscages about what happened they first told me they would not do anything as warranty was up. I informed them that after the first failure less then two months ago the tank was obviously a lemon. They tried to deny replacement of tank until my lawyer and the catering halls lawyer threatened legal action if something was not done. They replaced the tank with smaller tank due to fact that they did not make this large size tank anymore. New tank was installed and within 24 hrs of start up developed a scallop crack at op of tank, they were informed and refused to do anything about this. There quality is GARBAGE and so is there customer service but thats what happens when want to buy a cheap tank you get what you paid for.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Sorry that happened. To ask the customer to repair their faulty work sounds on par to the rest of the stories.

It sure seems to me though, that if you in the position to make a big toy purchase and think you'll be walking on air while under the effects of being a recent big toy consumer, think again if dealing with these guys. THey'll pop that bubble for you real quick followed by a kick in the teeth. And if someone will write back arguing the evils of capiltalism, yeah, yeah, move to Iran then.
