people should move out of those crowded cities and buy a little farm and raise their own veggies, raise a few animals.. plant a zillion trees.. have beautiful gardens and big fish ponds.. hike trails through their land... take pictures of nature.. open their own little store in a town where theres only a small grocer.. or a little hardware store..or maybe even a little restaurant and live in the wide open spaces of the country.. like me..haha... that way i would not be the only one here..haha:) very good life for fish people...and very good for global warming..

Another easy thing to do is switch from incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent. They take about 1/3 of the power for the same output. Simple....but effective.

Actually, the people who are living in a small apartment in cities and walking or talking mass transit to work are probably generating fewer greenhouse gas emissions per capita than someone living a rural environment who has to drive everywhere and pay to heat and cool a detached single-family dwelling.

definitly agree per capita but the wide open spaces still is healthier because not as much pollution in a confined space. but who knows .. this is apple country ..they spray to keep the buds on the trees, they spray to kill the insects, they spray to prevent mildew, they spray to keep the apples from falling and they spray to have the apples fall off... :headbang2 and then they say an apple a day keeps the doctor away.. i don't know .. does any one really know what is the truth??? :WHOA:

You are cool Ben. Stay cool.

I'll stop now.

:)

I kind of got a little out of control there. Like I said, we all just need to take everything everybody says with a grain of salt.

but you question those who are qualified ( the scientists) without questioning the spoutings of corrupt politicians whose opinion you seem to share.

No no DavidW. I definitely do not defend one side or the other. Why would I side with politicians who have offered scientists 10 grand to keep their mouths shut. I don't believe anybody, how does that sound?

wise. it's even hard to trust "facts" no knowing who "found" them and their validity. Fortunately i have access to sources i can trust.

I had to do an experiment at uni, where I had to convince my housemates to live as green as possible. Just stupid stuff such as not leaving stuff on standby, not having the heating on ALL the time, turning of lights when your not in the room, switching off plug outlets when they aren't being used, cutting down on water wastage, switching to energy efficient bulbs (last 10 times as long, and saves a rediculous amount of energy and are actually brighter) etc. Basically just focusing on cutting down electric useage, water and gas. We did it for one quarter so when the bills came we'd know how much this would effect us economically. Well I can tell you for the next year and a third, we lived like that all the time. It saved us just over 200 GBP. It is worth it just for that, and that is just how you use household accessories like boiling water for a cup of coffee or whatever. If you did it for every aspect of your life you and everyone did it, you'd save a lot of money, and are living a greener lifestyle. Another important point was noone felt disadvantaged (giving things up they didn't want to) and in the knowledge it was a good way of living (and the extra cash in their pocket).

Other kind of things i think about are:
Britain could stop buying sodding strawberries all year round because they want to eat them when we can't have them (in winter) so stop importing them from portugal (good deed one: ecological footprint). The other is because of this "need" the Iberian Lynx (found in portugal and spain, although now is debated whether they are extinct from portugal) is now the most endangered big cat in the world(it was in 2003/4 anyway) and there are less than 200 in the wild. Basically because our demand has forced more agriculture cutting into their habitat. It is really things like this that piss me off, just because pete and gill down the road was some f*cking strawberries to put with their cream in december. It's not just this particular case, everything has an ecological impact, and it doesn't hurt to think about it now and again.

Sorry but sometimes i need to rant about this kind of stuff. Oh and guess what, i just don't eat strawberries lol.

Spot on sir. Yep, the Iberian Lynx has ONE area in Portugal where it is protected. Very said, that there are very very few left in Portugal and are almost solely found in Spain.

I don't trust many scientists. it would be relatively simple to construct a un-provable theory as they do and back it up with "evidence", especially when you are paid to do it and you are trying to prove a point(which isn't the point of science).
