I wasn't saying it was exactly the same, its just very similar. People wanted to explain why ships didn't come back, and they say "i bet the world is flat". People want to explain why its getting 1-2 degrees hotter over the 150 years that they have kept track of temperatures. Its not global warming. Also people, we are talking about Global Warming not as its broken down in simplest form which is the earth getting warmer, we are talking about the man made effect that is causing it, which i personally believe is complete BS.

The sun actually will get hotter and cooler over decades, and i believe between the sun burning a little hotter, normal temperature fluctuation and some other natural things for a planet to do are the reasons behind the Earth getting on average around 1-2 degrees warmer over the past 2 centuries.

I don't see how you can look at all of these factors and simply think "Al Gore was right". You guys are chasing after a Manbearpig and I'll give you a hint, you aren't going to find one anytime soon.

would ocean currents ceasing mean that the hot areas get hotter and the cold get colder? instead of overall cooling?

The ocean conveyor is a VERY important mechanism...some oceanographers believe that if it stops the least of our problems will be the temp...some believe it was this that caused the last great mass extinction...

A lot of people seem to think our impact on climate change is small...It is true that volcanoes produce a lot of global warming, but they also produce a lot of cooling from the huge amount of dust they throw up into the upper atmosphere reflecting the suns energy back into space... but its a bit off point though cause volcanoes are going to happen, and what we do is added to their effect and our impact is the same order of magnitude!

Heres a thought experiment, forget global warming gases...imagine your sat in a dark room in your house, leccys out so you light a candle. That light is weak, so you light another and another...by the time the room is well lit you can feel the heat coming of all the candles...your car is like a candle, quite apart from the gas emissions...9 billion cars will warm the world...cities are always hotter than their surroundings...its like putting hundreds of 1watt heaters in your monster tank....

Global warming is a fact! Just come to Miami and you'll be a believer!

Also couldent global warming cause another Ice Age???

I find it interesting that the people who agree with man made global warming, seem to have to start their posts with, "there is no doubt this is true" or "only a &*%^* would think it's false" or something like that. I'm trying to figure out what the motive in this is. There is obviously a debate on what the origin is, so is the point to try and "talk" really loud to intimidate, or is it that you have completley put a wall up around yourselves and are not acceptting any other viewpoints? If you believe in something shouldn't it be ok to welcome differing viewpoints, and be open to the possibility that you may not have all the answers?

I truely believe in global warming, the weather in my area has gone wack in the last few years. It keeps getting hotter, flowers are blooming earlier, and all of the frogs are pretty much dead...:(
