Methane cows produce...its often converted to CO2 equivalent in reports cause it has about 10 times the effect of C02, which is why composting your waste is a very uneco thing to do...you need to biogas it to be green....Yet they (in the UK anyway) are spending 1000's promoting composting...but thats the gov for you!
If you feed cows garlic they make less methane...something to do with the bacteria, and kangeroo's produce little methane but eat the same food as the cows...any ozzies heard that? I wonder if the steaks taste of garlic...mmmm!
C02 levels were very high in the past, once much higher than the O2 content. (which as an aside is why some think our lung function is regulated by CO2 concentrations, and that a lot of problems, ie hyperventilation stem from our lungs working in a low CO2 environment they didnt evolve for, hence breathing in the bag!) CO2 concentrations are rising fast and can be seen to rise year on year, by 2020's they are expecting a concentration of about 400ppm up from 350ppm in our lifetimes...how can that be explained in anyway other than mans impact? We have been burning loadsa stuff, and there havent been many volcanic eruptions!!!!
