Gold x silver saum spawn

My male gt Oliver spawned with my young female Jade.

I do plan on growing out some fry from these two.
They just spawned yesterday.


This is Jades first time laying eggs, so I’m not expecting much. It might take a few more times before we get a spawn to grow out.
For now, here is the new mom.

Yep. Well, I mean I will be if these guys make it.
I figured since most of my fish got moved to the big tank I have two tanks freed up at the moment. I’ll play around with raising fry till I work out what I want for stocking. And how I plan to revamp the tanks.

Jades eggs hatched sometime last night or early this morning.
It looks like she had at least a 98% hatch rate. Better then most of Greenies batches.
Her she is guarding them under a rock

She is doing great for her first time.

This morning we have free swimmers.

The wood has really been staining the water a lot. The fish don’t mind, but I hate it >.<


Since my other female Greenie also has fry she has banished Oliver to Jades side of the tank. It’s really neat to finally see him allowed to play his fatherly roll with the babies. Now that he’s grown out of eating them Greenie never gave him a chance, and understandably. He was just a 2” hungry monster the first time they started spawning. Now he is older and experienced. Jade is more excepting of him.

They are doing great. Eating well and growing. The bigger ones have gone from 1/8in to 1/4in now that they are a week old. I need to pull some today for progression shots. I love my terrors, but I’m just a tad more excited for the goldfish. Since the parents are different from each other I’m so curious how the little ones will look.

The fry are out and active this morning. Jade and Oliver are working tirelessly to keep the schoolers away. I’ve seen a good handful or two get eaten already. But I need the numbers to come down so I’m not sweating it.

Any plans to put them in the koi pond next summer ?
