yup to all above. i've never noticed that the spots go lighter, but the darker parts- black and brown will fade more

I have seen the dots get lighter. As the dark part get lighter, the spots do to, but you just don't notice as much because the darker part is also getting lighter.

o right thought he meant just the dots were getting less yellow

That would be interesting if they did do that. The black stays dark, while the spots change from white to yellow.

No the differing odontodes between the same species usually is a sign of the males vs. females, males often have larger odontodes.
