Goldfish hating.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think goldfish are awesome. I bet they will outlived most of any predator fish you can name, if you care for it properly. Easy 10yrs+ lifespan.
Goldfish are monsters, I just guess many of the MFKer's haven't experience with it only. Have you seen a goldfish that start chasing down other little goldfish to eat? They will eat 2 dozen by the next morning and they have no teeth whatsoever(besides their jaw).
Heck, even a goldfish will eat a crayfish if the goldfish mouth is big enough as they got no front teeth to rip it apart. Imagine if goldfish did have teeth like many other monsters...I bet goldfish would be #1 on the list. :D

Oh, and im not talking about fancies...im talking about the common goldfish. :p

they are over breed to have super body trats and are pron to bad swim blater problms and not killers lol they are the kille

Ranchus were bred to be the cutest fish ever, other goldies seem either bland or duisgusting to me...

I love Gold fish :naughty:

I disagree about Goldfish not being predators. My Comets sit in the anachris in my pond waiting for baby mollies to come by and wap. No more mollies. They purposely hunt the baby mollies which keeps my molly population down.

When I used to work at a pet store when I was 14. I would put a few feeder goldfish in with the bigger gold fish and koi and wap no more feeders.

Goldfish are predators just becaues they have no teeth doesnt make it so.

I think there are some beautiful goldfish out there, but unfortunately some have been so badly bred that they just look deformed now.

I have zero interest in goldfish. Some of the "fancy" varieties are just hideous. It's silly to "hate" a specific group of fish though.

I love my goldfish; they do have personallity and are more fun to watch than TV most of the time. That's why the goldfish tank is the "show tank", the only one upstairs and not in the fish room.

My favorite goldfish, Mr. Bumpy, died last month. I also lost a calico pearscale and two weather loaches.

It was the unquarentined weather loaches that caused a massive ick out break followed by a nasty infection of some sort that killed my whole tank, save a moore and an old albino weather loach I've had for many years.

Lesson learned (the hard way) and I'm starting over now with the moore and weather loach. I picked up a little oranda and I'm now looking for a calico ryukin to complete the tank stock. It's going to take a long time to grow the new fish out to the size of the ones that died, but it will be worth it!

Robb, I wish I can borrow yours because my watonai and fantail are not doing their job effectively at consuming the guppies in my pond.

It just comes down to personal preference, NBK. And I do agree some fancy types were made more fragile than was necessary. I don't mind owning bubble eyes once again but the eye sacs just make me lose my head when they are about to get ruptured as it did to me in the past. Those and the celestials are the only ones that make me sympathize with their plight.:(

Newt, the goldfish do gather more attention than any fish I ever kept. Guests tell you they never knew goldies get that big, etc.lol It's a good learning process.

Sorry to hear that, mate.:(

Yes, the orandas are indeed cute although I don't know if my black oranda is ever cute since he looks grumpy all the time.
