Big goldie fan...
Pond Pics 022.jpg
Next house will have a bigger pond and a fantail tank inside. All black gravel/sand, painted black background, live plants. They are really a cool fish when housed properly.

Gotta say that I first got on here because I have this horrible addiction to both s/a cichlids AND polypterus but I find it awesome that others out there are rockin the goldfish! No matter how far removed I get from the "i won it at the fair" fish that was all I kept as a child I am still horribly fascinated by fancy goldfish! Good on ya'll for keepin it real with the most classic "monster fish" ther is and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! :D (Currently growing out: 1 black moor, 1 ivory pearlscale, 1 bronze pearlscale, 2 calico pearlscale, 1 calico ryukin, 1 r&w ryukin, 1 red cap oranda, 1 gold oranda,1 r&b oranda, and 1 ivory lionhead...) Don't get me wront, I'm obsessed with my big predatory guys, but there's DEFINITELY something to be said about the big dopey fish we all 'kept' as kids (I say kept in the most loose sense, considering that the best aquarium I had as a kid was a 1 gallon "kritter Keeper" with just an air pump for "filtration" to properly serve the carnival fish I always won, and I know I'm not alone!:screwy:) Woo! Goldfish rock! yeah, its late, just wanted to drop some kudos, and be thankful that i'm not the only weirdo who loves these ugly, horrible swimmers (the fiancee's words, not mine:ROFL:) as much as I'm inclined to do so!
Keep swimmin'!

We love goldfish. we have 7 goldies. 1 common, 1 orange comet, 1 sarassa comet, 2 blue shubunkins, and 1 orange and black shubunkin and one fantail fancy.
We are also going to build a pond for some goldfish as well. and with all of ours except the fancy, get 18" plus, they are monster.
We also have sunfish as well.

Actually, that green pea soup type of water is great for gold fish, and gives them the best color and form! Goldfish farms in China keep their fish in the same green soupy water.

I'm depressed... :(

This is Apollo, a blue goldfish I found in the feeder tanks at the LFS I've been going to for years. He's really a calico gold fish (shubunkin?) but didn't have any orange or brown, and very little black.

I found him back in 2005, and at the time had just found MFK, so I started getting rid of my community fish and looking into Oscars, RTC, bichirs, etc...

I think Apollo got eaten by some sort of fish I had at the time, but I really regret letting that happen.

I found some babies yesterday that are close to him (bought 4), but I don't know I'll ever find such a beautiful and truly blue goldfish. :(

Here's a pic of him when he was a little bigger....

Aw, Cohazard, he's gorgeous! He was a midnight blue shubunkin - a highly sought after type! Shubunkins with just blue, black, and white are hard to find. He was very pretty.

Cool I didn't know there was a name for it, that's cool :)

Flaring you should see the new babies I got that remind me of him. I'll try to get pics soon.

They all have symetrical solid black eyes (one of my favorite goldfish traits) and symetrical blushing gill plates.

Two are almost all white with some tiny black spots, and the other two are closer to Apollo, with mainly blue and white, with small black spots.

.... we love pictures around here! :grinyes: I'd love to see them.

in a future life ill inevitably get goldies again, when i have more room and money (and my own house:ROFL:) I love them. In this order: Sarasa Comet, Common, blue Calico Shubunkin. (SC and Shubs get BIG tho)
