Goldfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am an avid goldfish keeper as well. I even went as far as moving my fish 1000 miles with me. They all made it. I need to take some pictures but right now I have one 7" Oranda, one 7" Shubunkin, one 4" Ryukin, one 2" Ryukin and one really fat 4" pearlscale. Right now they are in a 55 gallon with a rena double basket cannister and a Aqua clear hang on back filter and I do about a 40% wc a week. I am currently looking for a bigger tank for them and then I want to turn my 55 into a planted tank. Sorry bout the long post. I love my goldies. They are what got me started in the Aquarium Hobby. *sigh* First Love

I'm turning into a goldfish feind!

I recently decided to start up a goldfish tank, and after a friend of mine showed me an awesome place for fancies, my collection is being kicked into over drive.

If there are any other socal goldfish lovers let me know and we can trade strains or help each other find the rarer stuff.

Here are some of mine:

Hope you have a big tank for them all #5 looks just like my calico

nah I just sort of buy fish indiscriminately with no real plan for housing. each one is being kept in it's own palatial 10" bowl. :headbang2

 j/k, yeah I'm going to keep different types in separate tanks. Bubble eyes in one, tele's and ranchu/lionhead in another, and the orandas and ryukin in another.

I think everyone will find that there is a goldfish that looks just like theirs out on the we b  Only the super high-end rare strains are 'unique-ish'

I keep my goldfish in the toilet tank. I keep the top off and put a screen over the drain hole. Nothing like a instand water change, filter? who needs one!

thought i'd resurrect this thread with a couple photos of my babies. these are also over at aquariacentral, but since there are relatively few goldy lovers here, i thought i'd put some of them up here too. I'm kind of a proud mom, can you tell? :D

and hey Cohazard, I'm in Socal too! Your goldfish are gorgeous, they're going to be real stunners at adult size. :headbang2

I admit I'm also a goldfish fan. I had originally bought 1 lionhead for my daughter and now we have 4 (and still looking for more). Although they are "my daughter's" fish, I'm the one who picked them out and takes care of them. I'm even thinking of giving them one of my big tanks. I find them relaxing to watch, especially after trying not to lose any fingers while feeding my cichlids and puffers.

Thank you Flaring! :) I can't wait to see them all huuuge!

WOW!! Your comets are awesome! So are the pics of course, your forum handle is very fitting ;)

How did you know I"m in socal? heheheh Where abouts are you flaring? There's this place in san gabriel. Awesome goldfish. Another place on the same street has cool goldfish for decent price too.

My buddy Joe (fishgonewild) showed me the place, it's called "KC Aquarium" and their fish are great quality and cheap price. I'm waiting to setup a few tanks and will go and swoop up a bunch. They had tosakins!! :headbang2
