How did you know I"m in socal? heheheh Where abouts are you flaring? There's this place in san gabriel. Awesome goldfish. Another place on the same street has cool goldfish for decent price too.

My buddy Joe (fishgonewild) showed me the place, it's called "KC Aquarium" and their fish are great quality and cheap price. I'm waiting to setup a few tanks and will go and swoop up a bunch. They had tosakins!!

Thanks, I spoil my fish. I spend all my money on them, and whatever is left over I use to buy food... ah yeah... haha.

I'm in Simi Valley. We have two claims to fame - first nuclear reactor meltdown in the US, and the movie Joe Dirt. Greaaaaat place. Haha... it's not that bad, actually. Just don't drink the groundwater.

I haven't been able to find an LFS locally that has good goldfish. Even the best stores have wimpy or sick goldfish. I think my next fish will come from Rain Garden Ornamentals, check out their website if you haven't been there already. http://www.raingarden.us/goldfish.htm
Of course that will be in the far future, I already have fry from my fish so I have my hands full right now! But I'd love to have a couple watonai or tosakin. I'm sure it's possible to cross watonai and comets to produce that comet shape and finnage with a double tail... There I go again, jibbering about goldfish, haha...

I live in West Covina, our only claim to fame is that 'good burger' was filmed here, and the city was 'thanked' in the credits, we all remember that american classic, right?

We do have Infinite Aquatics though, and I'm lucky to say I know Rich!!

My girl friend bought some gold fish a while back. If it weren't for that, I would never have gotten into the hobby! She researches a lot about Chinese and Japanese culture regarding goldfish. It's very interesting. If I recall correctly, you're supossed to keep 9 fish total, and one of them is black. The black goldfish absorbs the bad luck in the house. I'm currently looking at ways to upgrade our goldfish tanks from two 10 gallons to maybe one 29.

Also, I'm sure you guys knew this, but the arowana is considered good luck as well.

Please tell me more. Why 9? Do they all have to be different types? If so, what does each signify? What books does she read to find the info?

I have always had a soft spot for Goldies. They seem friendly and they do become at least aware of people in a positive way. One big oranda I had would always bump back and forth on the glass when I came by as though trying to get to me. 'Course, it was probably wanting those blackworms I sometimes came up with. I got him to attempt, in his fat, bumbling way, to jump out of the water and grab worms. He couldn't make it too far, but he did try.

Hello,

beside many standard, fantail, shubunkin and sarassa in my pond I have some in a tank.
This tank is in my parents living room, and they say it is most the beutifull of all my tanks
Not fish-keeping people are all completly keen on the RedCap Oranda
I have some Orandas from a Petshop and two Ranchu.
The White Crystal Ranchu is picture selected from TungHoi farm in China.
In a month I´m gonna get some more selected Ranchu

that little guy is allways horny

i have one its an oranda that i adopted from a petsmart the other ones in there ate his hood almost down to the skull so i got him nursed him back to health and after a year his hood has almost compleatly grown back. he is such a good fish at first i was like NO WAY am i having a fancy feader but they grow on ya.

I love my goldfish! They have a lot of personality and live a long time. I keep mine at 77 degrees, mixed with tropicals. "They" say that it is a bad idea, but I've done it for 25 years. Right now I have 4 Orandas, a Lionhead, and a Black Moor in my 135 along with tetras, plecos, rainbowfish and an 8" Pseudodora niger.

Yeah I tried sticking in 2 Black Moors in my 30 gallon with a Black Bullhead catfish and a Tadpole Madtom and the next morning my Black Moors were running around the tank without eyes.....

I tend to think that there may be some racial tention going on in my tanks...:j/k:

Black moores tend to need there own tank. Iv tried them in the past and they always died, they cant compete with other fish, even orandas.

I just bought 2 pearlscales a fantail and a black moore, and the black moore is the first to the food when the others don't even realize it's in there yet. Have to see how it goes in the future but he seems just fine right now. If there's an issue I can just move him to my sump though.

it might work in just a fancy tank big enough, but I got commons, tins, balas etc, they stand no chance I want big black fish!
