Good petsmart employe

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The Petsmarts here are all pretty good, along with their people. I guess I am just lucky. Well not in picking where to buy my fish…I bought mine from Wal-mart and the girl told me that a 15 gallon tank was plenty for the fish I was buying and I could even add more. :screwy: This she said after bagging up two albino Oscars and seven Pacus. That was just under two weeks ago and now I am down to just one Oscar and I am fighting to keep him alive.:swear:

We don't have a Petsmart in my area but we do have Petland and Petco, I know of 1 person in each store that seems to know a bit about what they talk about them and I just try and find them , the others I just avoid, the other nihgt I was checking out the Oscars they just got in and noticed the had Ich really bad and I asked the young girl working there if they were sick she told me that is just their markings, I told her she should look into it and she would find that they had ich, but she seemed really unconcerned about it. Oh well. I've also run into a couple LFS that have people that don't seem to know there fish for they always mislable them.

I work at a Petsmart and I have to say I agree with most of the complaints here. I know what I'm doing and have a good general knowledge of fish keeping, but I've given up on caring. I've seen that 99 out of 100 people will not take my advice. Who knows how many Plecostomus and Bala Sharks and Goldfish I have sent to their doom? People are too stupid to understand what the hell they are doing. Do you not research anything else before you buy? Do you go out and buy a car on a whim? A digital camera? A new computer?
Anyway, I know that I should care about the fish that I sell. I know I should refuse service. I've just lost all faith in humanity. So much for a relaxing hobby.

That's interesting. After 25 years of teaching I feel the same way--99 out of 100 students /parents will not try to make any effort to be anything but a**holes, and blame teachers across the board for problems. My fish learn more. I've about stopped caring. "People are too stupid to understand what the hell they are doing"--not with a fish's life, but their own. So much for doing any good. Hmmmffff:headbang2

12" goldfish?

must be one hell of a goldfish LOL.

Most comets max out at 10 inches, others 8inches. Koi will grow to 24 inches. A lot of people cant tell the difference. Some of the goldfish in my swimming pool have koi markings and are butterfly finned like some koi. All of my goldfish are comets and none are over 10 inches. Still at ten inches, there is a lot of meat from head to tail. I will post pics of some of the Grand Daddies when I get up to the required posts. Btw, a lot of people do not realize that the biggest and fattest fish are not male, but female...so I guess I will post some pics of some of the Grand Ma's :grinyes:

Matt, Only after working with the public will you know the true meaning of "Stupid People". Consider yourself initiated into the select few who really know why 90% of the population fits the description. :naughty:

p.s. Don't give up hope.

actually i saw a huge feeder goldfish that was 12" and it wast a koi i am positive

Sometimes it works out well for me if the employees are not that knowledgeable on there fish. I bought 2, 25 dollar royal pleco's and only got charged for the price of the regular pleco's, which were 4.99 each. I didn't feel bad because the fish were in poor condition and probable would have parished if I had not gotten them.

my experience with the petsmart in my area

about 3/4 of the employes act like they know what there talking about and give out wrong info, or a vauge truth.

i try to avoid petsmart, unless petco is out of feeders
