Yea one time when I used to put some salt in my tank. I did that because it wasnt working right it went in my mouth and it tasted like salt and fish poop.

If your tank water is tasting that bad I recommend gravel cleaning and water changes more often. It should have an earthy taste but nothing really horrid.

i have a really strong stomach, i havent threw up in like 8 years. I vacuum every time i W/C, just makes it easier. I always suck on the hose, mine doesnt taste that bad. 1-2 20% w/c a week + vacuuming. Mayber its just me though.

Yep, I use a piece of tubing connected with a garden hose fitting to a garden hose, which is run right out the door for substrate cleaning. The smaller tubing sucks up debris much better than the gravel cleaning tubes on sand substrates. The garden hose is cheaper, and eliminates the need for a Python or a bucket. You can use the hose to refill the tank as well. A Python is useless if you have low water pressure like I do.
