Hello everyone,

Got my 150 gallon, I have a fluval fx5 in the mail. I'm traveling to Buffallo NY to this really good pet store to get all the props. I have come up with the following community of fish...please let me know if you have any problems with any of the fish and give me advice if you see anything that shouldn't be in the tank. Thanks

two fire eels
probably 5-8 clown loaches
possibly my two 4 inch oscars (these are currently in a tank with a bunch of african cichlids and they haven't been agressive at all)
2 ralph catfish
one gost knife fish
one clown or brown knife fish
dinasour bichir
Pleco
and considering a freshwater sting ray

Your help would be very much appreciated

Well I gotta say you have a pretty mixed bag there and im not sure putting all of this under the eel section is the right category. As of right now you are eventually going to be overcrowded and some of the fishes temperments are not going to match. Like the knifes dont do well with other species knifes and the clown will get huge. The oscars will probably need a tank of this size just for the two of the of them and they could be to aggressive for some of the other fish. What kind of pleco do you want?

To help others/myself out I'd make a list in order of what fish you really want to put in the tank, so what fish is your number 1,2,3.etc.? This way we can propose ideas for compatibility for your tank!

Aberlot thanks for your help.

Here is my list..

1. Fire Eel, I would like two
2. Bichir x1
3. clown loach
4. ghost knife
5. brown or clown knife
6. Pleco, I would move my 6inch from my current 90 gallon chiclid
7. oscars
8. silver dollars
9. freshwater stingray

I should have made myself more clear, I do not plan on putting all of these in the 150.

Anymore help would be very appreciated

Tank seems to be too small for two fire eels.
I don't believe the stingray will work (tank is too small, companions are lunch)
I think a tank with a fire eel, BGK, clown loaches, and birchirs would work, depending on their sizes. Pleco would also work, and you could throw silver dollars into the mix depending on your filtration budget.

:iagree:This setup should work! Just make sure the clown loaches are big enough not to be come lunch. How big are the fish going to be when you get them? Also i believe dinosaur bicher is a senegal bicher. And what species of pleco is it?

johnuskglass thanks for your help, I will take this suggestion. I don't really need two fire eels either. The pleco is just your standard black common pleco. Its nothing special. You are right with it being called a senegal bichar, I might try to find a albino version if I can. What does BGK stand for? Also I have a fluval fx5 on its way so that should be a good start on filtration...

Thanks for everyones help, if anyone has anymore suggestions I would appreciate it

BGK- Black Ghost knife ?

set-up sounds good, 'cept a BGK might have issues being outcompeteted for food and hiding space. Make sure to have plenty of hideing spots and use a fine gravel/sand base. PVC and driftwood are my two favorite choices for this.

the eel ,loaches, bgk will thank you for it.
