johnuskglass thanks for your help, I will take this suggestion. I don't really need two fire eels either. The pleco is just your standard black common pleco. Its nothing special. You are right with it being called a senegal bichar, I might try to find a albino version if I can. What does BGK stand for? Also I have a fluval fx5 on its way so that should be a good start on filtration...

Thanks for everyones help, if anyone has anymore suggestions I would appreciate it

First off nice tank!
BGK - Black Ghost Knife

I would be concerned with the ray. The thing is to keep the ray happy you need to feed it, then they grow lol. Then eventually you get a ray tank.

Remember, know one here on this site has ever just bought their "last" tank. You will be good to go for a while and you can use that time to save/plan for your next monster fish tank :headbang2

Hello everyone,

Got my 150 gallon, I have a fluval fx5 in the mail. I'm traveling to Buffallo NY to this really good pet store to get all the props. I have come up with the following community of fish...please let me know if you have any problems with any of the fish and give me advice if you see anything that shouldn't be in the tank. Thanks

two fire eels
probably 5-8 clown loaches
possibly my two 4 inch oscars (these are currently in a tank with a bunch of african cichlids and they haven't been agressive at all)
2 ralph catfish
one gost knife fish
one clown or brown knife fish
dinasour bichir
Pleco
and considering a freshwater sting ray

Your help would be very much appreciated

3 heaters huh? That's 3 times the chance one of them failing. IMO. Your house is heated so a 300W will work fine. Of course you already have the heaters so no big deal. I would see if you can maintain temps with just one but I have had some bad luck with heaters.

That is a very nice tank! We need pictures when you set it up :D

Awesome, I do plan on having lots of vegetation and good cover, I also have plans for pvc piping throughout the setup that I will install. I'm very excited for all of this. I am traveling to Buffalo NY on friday to pick up everything I need from this famous all freshwater fish store. I have also purchased and am waiting for an order of very fine gravel to come over.

Anymore advice anyone, I'll post pictures as I set everything up

This may be a stupid question but is your tank cycled? Cuz if not you are running a huge risk of adding all of those fish.
What is the final list for the tank? (well at least for right now)

I have 3 fire eels and they get along great!:D how big are the eels do you know?:)

I haven't cycled yet. I know the process and plan on starting that this weekend. The fish I I will put in will slowly be added in a couple of weeks. I also have some starter bacteria. I like the three heaters suggestion. I got the three with the tank so they are just sitting in it. I will want to use less to save as much energy.

The sting ray is out of the picture now. I would have to do a lot of research before I think of that as an option and it is obviously not as feasible. The final call I think is..
1 fire eel
5 clown loaches
1 bichir
5 silver dollars
one pleco

maybe still want to try my oscars

No species of knifes? Id say you can try the oscars but only put them in once all the other fish are in and not stressed anymore. If your oscars are aggressive take them out and if they are peaceful let them stay! Good luck with you new tank!!!

Oh I forgot, I will have a Ghost Knife Fish as well. Thanks for the advice on the Oscars, they seem very non-agressive at this point. There are plenty of smaller Chiclids in the tank and if anything they have calmed down my agressive Vanustas!

I am going to get all of my supplies today, I'll have a picture of the tank for everyone probably by tomorrow!!
