I think if you ever had the law in your living room , or here in our fish rooms, they'd let that that slide. cops to me are very similar to ourselves as fishkeepers as I see it. Many is the time I've seen a lawman servey the situation, use better than average common sense , and send me on my way, even when I've had warrants. Our law enforcement officials are more than just big brother and sisters , they are actually out there watching out for the common good of everybody and eveything. I think if you actually got caught with an illegal species most cops would look at you as a doting mother or father, Damn, I've called in twice to work in my lifetime because my fish were sick and I couldnt get them off my mind.Anyway, properly cared for, our friends in our aquariums usually outlive their wild life counterparts.

You think that a cop would let an illegal species slide?
Much of your post is completely untrue. I have seen the fish commission stop people for netting to many shinners, I have also seen several times where they bust people for undersized fish. Are you speeking from your own experience? I don't know where you fish, but he would would get a nice and hefty fine if he got caught around here. They are pretty strict on this. What if he keeps it and keeps it with tropical fish and releases it when it gets big? It has huge consequences such as desease..
Also, why would your fish in the aquarium outlive their wild counterparts? Fish in aquaria under most keepers conditions will not exceed their wild counterparts. His 125 that hes planning on keeping it in would not be adequite for the species max size the biggest bass caught are well over 30'' and can live for 20+ years in the wild. Enless he is an extremely advanced fish keeper that bass is not going to live 20 years.
No affence to you zfoster, but the 125 won't allow the species to grow to its full potential.

well im a kid dont think ill get checked much so........ im pretty safe i have some other non legal species too.

Thats a bad way of thinking. You think you are above the law because you're a kid?

no you rarely get checked
Must be nice!! My boat honestly gets checked at least 5 or 6 times a summer, and I get checked on the streams another 4 times a year on average. Thats just them searching my stuff not even counting the nice officers that just glance over at my boat or me fishing thats searched. They even dumbed out my bait box of worms to look for beer. Why would anybody hide beer in a worm box! come on now, but they did. Then they tried to make me pick them up. Not to scare you but, if you keep up the attitude of I'll never get caught. They will catch you, just wait. As for you being a kid HA! I was trout fishing in the middle of the allegany mountains with my cousins when I was 10 years old and in the rain the fish cops made us dump out our waders to see if we were stuffing any stocked trout down them. They will stop you if they see you netting baby largemouth bass, thats a game fish and its their job to help protect the future fish of that lake.

yea but they are pretty lienent around here a ranger drove by me in boots and a net and just waved the bass is the only i took illegally the rest ive keep were in size limit and non game and you dont rarely get checked unless they see you do something wrong ect. but im still catious about it.
