its a neat gun for sure.... but pure rubbish for anything other than point blank use (as far as the whole 410 thing goes) which will never happen since its way huge/heavy to carry concealed... every shop around here has several used ones collecting dust...

:D

As I mentioned, I did lots of research, and am very aware of the capability of the 410 shells. I wouldn't quite call 10-15 feet point blank range though. Any actual real encounter with an intruder will likely be not much more than 10 feet. I got the gun because it is unique and I just want to have fun with it. I haven't decided whether I want to keep it or my S&W M&P 9, which is my duty weapon, next to my bed.

Is that your Public Defender?

A question for you pistol guys....I'm going to be caribou hunting in bear country, buddies tell me not to go without a sidearm. I was thinking a bull dog .44 would be small / compact enough to lug around with some solid stopping power. What would take with you?

The smallest caliber I've ever heard people using in bear country is a 10mm shot from a Glock 20. I would definitely go bigger and use a .44 Mag like you mentioned.

I just got back from shooting my Judge. This gun rocks:headbang2

I shot the 45lc, birdshot, and 000 buck. Dang this thing is a beast! This gun takes a lot of criticism, and I was a little nervous I wouldn't like it, but man it is fun to shoot. Yes, the birdshot spreds pretty fast, and I wouldn't trust my life on it, but a shot in the face from 10 feet out will definitely stop some one from coming towards you. And the 000 buck, hell yeah! That is a man stopper for sure. The grouping of the buckshot from 10-15 feet out (I didn't take the time to measure) was less than 3 inches. Man, the buckshot packs a punch. It put some nice holes in paint cans. I had a pretty good grouping with the 45lc from 20 feet out. The trigger pull is pretty hard when shooting double action, but you can choose to shoot single or double.

This gun is a blast to play around with. Also, I am going to keep it next to my bed with 5 rounds of 000 buckshot ready to go.

Sounds awesome. We'll have to go shooting sometime.

For sure. What guns do you have? I am also getting my hunting license at the end of the month so I can go for small game with my 22.

Well... Glad you like it. I would not however expect it to do much and would suggest you look further into a better self defense firearm. Fun to shoot but this gun is just not useful or practical.

Have you actually shot this gun, or are you just going off of the bad rap? Get one and shoot some 000 buck or maybe some hollow point 45lc, then let me know if it wouldn't do much to an intruder. I totally disagree that this gun is not useful. Not practical? You're right, not practical in a lot of applications. BTW, it is not my only firearm, and I did not get it for the sole purpose of self defense.

Gonna have to agree^
Make sure to shoot some practice rounds so you know what to expect. That gun is POWERFULL and will knock your *** on the ground if you're not ready.

Jimmy

Your joking right.... 44 knock you on your ***....really....44 is generally a light and even round. Good idea in any case to fire at least 50 to 100 rounds to get used to how to handle them but a 44 is not really all that difficult to control or to use even with really hot factory ammo.
