no where
was 40 buxs but on sale for 37.00 ( not cheap either )

marineland stealth shatter proof heater 250 watts

heres what it says:

shatter proof
thermal plastic
fully submersible
safety shut off switch
accurate to +1 degree F
for freshwater or marine

so is that a good brand? is 250 enough for my 75 gallon?

Those specs are pretty much standard for most all heaters (except some have indicator lights and mention the bi-metal contact material). The difference is in the manufacturing process and material quality. I have had poor experience with Stealth heaters so I no longer use them.

Wattage depends on tank size, target temperature, and room temperature. I have a single 200W in my 125G that keeps the temp at 79 in a basement that typically is around 70 degrees.

First off, you got ripped off. I hope you got a stealth pro at lease. If you just search stealth, you will see stealth tends to cook fish. IMO, I'd return that heater ASAP and get something else. Rena smart heaters and Jager are good heaters and are much cheaper from thatpetplace.com

I have never had an overheating issue with my Stealth heaters.

I have used 75w, 2 x 200w, 2 x 250, and 1 x 300w...

In fact they all still work fine except one 200w that died randomly recently. It just won't turn on anymore.

I currently use stealth heaters on 4 of my tanks (4x300w heaters, 1x 150w, 1x75w) and have NEVER had an issue with them. They work great, heat the tanks fine, and are easy to use.
