My Stealth heater stopped working (no heat). It took me awhile to notice; partially because there is no ON indicator lamp. Poor fish were freezing...lol

I now only purchase heaters with a light. I bought a Fluval M300 this weekend as a backup.

My stealth heaters all have orange/red lights that come on when they are on... and the light is off when its off...

I feel for the people who have been having problems with your heaters, but I guarantee you every single brand is going to have many bad heaters sent out. All it takes is someone dropping a box of them between the factory and your door, and chances are most of them will malfunction.

I stick by the stealths, because I have yet to have one fail on me. If they ever do start failing, I will probably go with titanium heaters with controllers, just because they seem more fail-safe than any glass submersible heater.

I suspect it is the older model of the Visi-Therm Stealth that has given them a bad name. The new design may have corrected the design/manufacturing flaw of the original.

was 40 buxs but on sale for 37.00 ( not cheap either )

marineland stealth shatter proof heater 250 watts

heres what it says:

shatter proof
thermal plastic
fully submersible
safety shut off switch
accurate to +1 degree F
for freshwater or marine

so is that a good brand? is 250 enough for my 75 gallon?
idont know about the 250 being enough for your 75, but i have a 75g tank too and i just bought one of the the 300w models for up to a 100g tank and this thing works like a champ! very impressed with the accuracy. the 250 will probably do it but the 300 heats it with ease.

oh yeah and it has the adjustable thermostat and the led indicator lights, nice features.

250 is more than enough. I have a jager 250 on my 90 and its good by itself. Its one of those non-submersible ones and thats kind of weird to me

I recently switch to the stealth pro after for almost 2 years my eheim jager was at least 5 degrees off....I used to have the ebo jager before they were bought off eheim with no problems, but the eheim ones have that blue button on top to calibrate the thermostat for some reason I could never get it to work...so I finally made the switch to the stealth pro...looks nice too flat black in color easy to hide and blends in the black background and the dial which turns green if its off and red when on..looks cool....so far so good....
