got a new heater!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you read long enough you can find horror stories about every brand heater out there. Kinda makes you think there are only two kinds of heater. Heaters that fail and heaters that are going to fail. You just hope they fail in the off position not on.
It makes the Jehmco controller (or the equivalent) look like a neccessity not a luxury.

Because most of the time people post on a forum, it's because something went wrong. Most people don't take the time to post, "Hey guys, just wanted to let you know my heater is working okay and everything is fine." :)

You paid too much for that heater BTW.

True enough Bob965 , Hey BTW what kind of heater are you using ?
My Ebo Jagers are working fine, so far.

I use stealth in all 3 of my tanks. No issues.

I have a couple hydor regular submersible types, plus a hydor in-line, but lately I've been buying stealth pros.

I think a big part of the bad rep stealth heaters get is probably just due to the sheer number that are out there. I don't have any sales figures or anything, but I have never been in a fish store that didn't have them on the shelf. The Jagers and others that people recommend sometimes take a bit of looking to find. I think the high volume of sales, plus the fact that people usually only post about their heater when it fails, contribute to the perception that they're unreliable. We don't really know what the actual RATE of failure is, they could be the best on the market for all I know.

That is a good argment but it brings up a red flag when visi therm introduces the stealth pro to replace the original stealth.

i have a 75 g too i also bought one of these but i got the 300 watt, mine was only like 24 bucks though.

Why would that raise a red flag? They're simply introducing a newer, probably better product to replace one that's how old now? Doesn't necessarily mean anything wrong with the old product, its just time to put something new out there, so the company can stay competitive.
