It's also good to be able to measure a tank on the go. A dollar bill is six inches long. I use my right hand which stretches to about 9.5" tip of thumb to tip of pinky. I know some wiseass guy will suggest something else, but I'm pretty sure the owner of the tank won't approve of you whipping it out and measuring the tank with it.

This wise ass would easily whip out a tape measure to see if it will fit in the place I want it to or to compute gallonage...I wouldn't try to correct the person, just make a mental note...theres nothing wrong with that...If I was selling a tank and you came and put your d**k beaters all over my glass, or whipped out a dollar bill and started 6 inching your way down the front I'd think you were insane!, then I'd be pissed...
I'd have to wipe the thing down again...:screwy::screwy::screwy:
