Great idea!

Although if it were me I'd use a fish that reflects "death", not necessarily something black. Get an aggressive cichlid or wolf or something that is extremely aggressive. That would fit the bill.
thanks what type of ciclids would you recomend?

Carny, i want a fish that rip out souls. LOL That would be an aggressive fish. I agree w/ Mudfrog that a wolf fish would be a nice fish to put in there b/c they are dark and mean-looking. All the ones I've seen aren't very active.

where would i get a wolffish?
i don't think the local lfs carries them
and yes a fish that rips out souls would be very kewl

lol well i should be starting next week.and i need a new camera so i can take pictures.

i think your idea of putting a black light poster as a background is an awsome idea. in one of my tanks i have black gravel and a skull in there and it really looks cool with an electric blue lobster crawling around. they would deffinently stick out in a dark aquarium and you might even end up with a few corpses every once and a while. you said this was a 55g ? if so you would have few casulaties from a lobster/crayfish if all you fish were active and more mid to top range swimmers

crayfish i never thought of that i thought they would drown in water?like they have to beable to escape the water or the drown.Yes i already have 1 55 gallon and i'm getting anorther so i'll have 2 tanks to decorate instead of having to choose between which themes i like. :irked:

crayfish stay underwater full time. as long as you have air in the tank from a filter or airstone (you can never have enough oxygen) also make sure the tank is covered completely cause sometimes there like spiderman the way they can climb.

get a 6ft tank .. with a stylofoam casket with a full body of human bones laying at the side.. that'd be cool :P

55G tank.. make a smaller stylofoam casket with a baby size skeleton figure and laying at the side ..and have tiny drift wood on the bottom, and ferns and plants growing all around.. cemetary / gothic theme :P

Hey, that gives me an idea... just custom-build a glass aquarium in the shape of a coffin... :headbang2
