Glad someone asked! Minneapolis Glass Company (http://www.minneapolisglass.com/) Out of 15 different companies I checked out, they were the cheapest in the state. Just contact them for a quote. If you need help with anything related to building a glass tank I would be willing to help a fellow MFKer out.:grinno:

Yep, just went to Forest Lake yesterday and saw the new batch of juvie reds. Gonna special order 20 of them in a couple weeks. They also just got a 30"+ RTC and some juvie Jardini for $30.

Just Finished reading the thread. Dont know how I missed this one.

Great work

dude, you should count yourself one of the few lucky men in the world.... your girlfriend approves fishkeeping. There are so many threads and posts about their wives or girlfriends that have moved in (& moms, including my own) who won't let them keep fish as long as they're in the same house. And from your thread, I can see that you even found one that will help build the tank (a BIG +) goodjob. keep the updates coming.

^^^ I agree I almost married one that liked the fish but it wasn't until we where engaged she told me I had to cut back my number of tanks and none in the main areas of the house.... well we are not together anymore. I'm thankful I found that and a few other things out before we where married.

Well, looks like I am going to put this project on hold for now. My roommate is moving out, so my gf and I started looking for a house to call our own. I was easily gonna dump more cash into this thing to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Still going to finish it, but now I have to wait to get my piranhas!

Guess all I can do now is drain it and start taking it apart to make it easier for moving. Still waiting on my bulkhead fitting and checkvalve in the mail. Also ordered some replacement parts for my FX5. Gonna go crazy on GoogleSketchup so I can make a good finished product design.

Side note: This thing evaporates water like a mad man! Not unexpected though...

Love the tank. Good luck with the house hunt!

Found a house, but gotta wait a bit to move in. Got my replacement stuff in the mail for my FX5...now to come up with a polite way of telling my roommate he needs to gimme money or I break his legs. Menards has these humidifier belts that seem perfect for a substitute to expensive Fluval foam for the outer rings of the FX5. Got it setup like this...

Top Basket
Inner ring - Bioballs and 1 scrubbie
Outer ring - coarse humidifier belt

Mid Basket
Inner ring - Bioballs and 1 scrubbie
Outer ring - dense humidifier belt

Bottom Basket
Inner ring - Bioballs and 1 scrubbie
Outer ring - blue bonded poly from www.drsfostersmith.com

I really want to redo the plumbing on the wet/dry after I move so I am gonna lower the water level and plug the bulkhead and just let the FX5 filter the tank for the remaining time that I am living in the ghetto. The house we found is currently owned by one of my close friends and I already scoped out a perfect spot for a fish room. He has this really "bare" wall in his basement living room...the other side of the wall is his laundry/furnace/AC/water softener room...I told him about my idea to frame my tank in the wall to look like a picture and he liked the idea! Funny thing too, this would be cheaper than finishing the stand.
