I don't understand why people say grammodes are slow growers. All my males got to 7 to 8" in the first year.

Good to know, I'd like to think my male will be at 7" or so by the fall.

Mine have always been hit and run feeders...... One piece and hide. So, in community settings they always seem to get "out-eaten" by the other fish. I have found them to grow faster when alone (no competition), but they are more shy IME.
