Grammodes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i will try to order some monday.

I've had some friends with grammodes and they seemed to be quite skittish. I lucked out and was offered a 8" male for free this fall, so I grabbed him and hoped he would be different. The first few weeks, I didn't see him at all. Now he's probably my most hate filled fish. I still have a healing wound on my hand from him getting me during a water change.

The trick is just to have a lot of dithers in there with them, when there are a lot of other fish swimming around, it makes the grammodes feel more at ease. Convicts, giant danios, etc...

Great post.......... Definitely the more the merrier!

I had what I would consider, a CHAMPION Grammode. He was a little skiddish at first until I got a regular feeding schedule associated with me turning on the light. After about a week and a half, when the light came on, he was at the top of the tank. After that he was extremely aggressive at three inches. He grew to about 8in. He killed, better yet crucified a 12in arrowana in about three hours. I put the net and my hand in to try to stop him, but as soon as I took them out, he continued his rampage. I would rank him with the meanest fish I have ever had, which includes Dovii, Umbee, Trimac, and Red Devil. Beautiful fish though. I lost him in Katrina.

No just nick named mini dovii. But that is an apprpriate name. I am expieriencing the same thing. My 3.5 in male grammode is starting to get nasty. He is in there with two female grammodes and a female dovii grow out. The dovii can hold her own but he still chases her around. He was very skittish at first but now he comes straight to the top for feeding time. Just cant wait to for him to get some size.
