Gray Bamboo Shark

Matt's right!. You could do this a couple of ways. Being that its a small body of water it might me hard to keep the pH buffed up but if you could match everything to to fleshy's levels the shark could go right in. I doubt that will be cause though. The other thing you can do is have new water mixed up and match the levels to the transport water and put the shark right in there and then start dripping him. The last thing you can do is park the cooler next to the tank hit it with a little amquel and start dripping him.

I have used all three of these methods. No matter what you do put some type of air stone in with him during transport and acclimation be it pure o2 or just an air pump. For something small like this I use limewood stones for the fin air bubbles.

Yep, micro bubbles are the way to go. Get taht O2 level up, so even with the added stress, the shark doesn't have to work hard to breathe.

How are you running the airstones in the car?

Guys, looked this morning in the lab for a battery powered air pump, no dice.

If I would have known about the tank I could have used a scuba one, or gotten one from another lab on campus, but again, no dice...as I am leaving in 5 minutes to get this fish.

I snagged a couple heat packs for the ride back, and I will be keeping the car overly toasty...which I hate, but...me being carsick is better than the shark being carsick. For now, that looks like the best I can do, he is going into a pretty large container, so lets all cross our fingers.

Thanks for the help so far everyone, you have been great.

yeah all those places sell cheap ones. walmart, lowes, home depot etc.
I know black & decker makes a 400w on that sell around $30

Had I seen this before I left, I would have bought the inverter. Going to purchase one for next time however.

Shark is in. I did a fast drip (As the shark was in 10g of h2o), and put an airstone in his cooler when we got back.

Tested tank h2o for nitrate, it was at 0.

Dripped him for over an hour, and when we got tank temps to the same...we added him, without incident.

I had to build him a new cave, because the one I prebuilt he was just ramming himself under, and it did not look as if it was healthy for him.

I didnt really get a good look, but I am pretty sure it IS a HIM.

That being said, I have had no luck finding these sharks on the internet, but would be interested in breeding somewhere down the line.

Guy ate today, respiration rate was at 10x per minute. Seems to be fine.

Anything I should be looking for? She is also swimming through his pvc/LR cave now, which she didnt like for a long time. Its plenty big enough for her though.
