86? LOL All my rays would be dead if this were true.

I ran 90 for 2 weeks straight......

I'm not saying its true for all rays bro. To reiterate, 3 of 4 of my rays were thriving in the high temps. But they were all different. I had this suspicion and after seeing that Dr. Ross lost some rays to what he felt was high temperatures (86), I agree that its a possibility as it has somewhat affirmed my suspicion. Just my opinion bro. You never know...that 90 you ran for two weeks my have disrupted something in one of your rays that may have took quite some time to come to fruition. If we had it all figured out, there would be no need for these threads. I'm just expressing my "informed" opinion.

But like Keepinfish said...We just have to do what we think/know to do and hope for the best. There is little consensus across the board...even among "exports." We're all shooting arrows in the dark with our fellow experienced MFKers trying to shed some light.

This is the kinda brainteaser that lands you in a fancy comfy room that appears to have scrunchy pillows everywhere..... With a nice fancy new jacket with lots of buckles.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: I definitely feel you!:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

here is what it looks like. Maybe i am making it worse than it is?

Another change i did do was add a poly filter in my canister filter last week. I noticed that the Hystrix looked lighter in color and i thought well this poly filter made my water so clear i can just see the ray that much better. but in the picts you can see the faded whitish color.
It made my tank look great!

i would up the maintenence first. how many rays do u have on that system and what is ur waterchange schedule?

DB- i have the same question.

i have a hard time keeping my 450 clean, even though i drip 150 gallons per day and filtering the tank almost 20x per hour. i cant imagine myself dripping any less water w/out my water going bad and my rays getting sick...

4 rays 150 gallons all under 6.5", 1000 gph filter's

2 50% changes once a week

but did feed heavier than normal this weekend, since i added the armatus.

i would be spending the next hour or so doing atleast 4 50% water changes...

Loss of apetite, skin peeling.... Yup.

I noticed excess slime build up on my lil female right after the 1st time she refused food. Within like 12 hours eyes became really cloudy. Skin started peeling, 24 hours later the rear of the disk was being kept off the bottom, Another 12 hours curling, another 12, dead.
I noticed some fuzziness on my other lil female last night. She refused food. Ate the night before. I could update when I get home......
Binox doesn't seem to be helping in my situation.... But it's been less than a week.
Well, I'm screwed as mine seems to be having similar symptoms just slower progression. I added a new picture to my thread.

honestly if its eating i would not be too concerned from your pics. It looks "similar" to what my hystrix had but mine was 100000X worse!! you could almost not even tell anymore it was a hysrix cause its patterns were so smudged from the infection. Now about 4-5 weeks later it is near perfect again!!! Binox won't hurt and I know with all he med threads going around it seems shady to medicate so try the extra clean water method and if it fails throw in the binox. i trusted it in a central system with over $10k worth of fish and not one fish showed any signs of stress from the medicine. 11 rays

Probobly around 1100 gallons. Only 2 of my rays are decent sized. Other 9 are under a foot some as small as 6 inches.

I try to vac and WC every day but end up skipping. 5 times a week I'd say. Probobly 20 to 30 percent weekdays, big one on the weekend. Filter pads get changed twice a week.

I know this isn't enough but I have 6 smaller rays in the pond (divided) till I'm done with the growout tank. Then they will be split up again.
