GREAT----my ray now--- should i be concerned.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it looked like his skin was peeling off like you said. i would say it covered half its body. this is the result of 86F with salt and binox after 4 weeks or so. 99% better

I've heard this refered to as "Super Ich". It killed all of the Clown Loaches at my local fish store in one day. Came in with a new shipment of Loaches and did it's thing.

Richard Ross keeps all his rays in the mid 80's no less, When treating with Binox always use salt the combination of these and high temperature is what really works well. Three to four weeks ago we imported some BD leopoldi from Brazil one of them came in with entire outer edge of disk just falling apart and feet were half gone the skin and flesh was just rotting away in large pieces. The ray went right into a double treatment of Binox, salt and heat and it took a good two weeks of treatment before the problems stopped. The ray is eating and doing great now I was 99% sure I would lose this animal and it bounced back from the treatment. As for everyone lowering the temperature cause of DW thread I would say this is a bad idea, if your going to drop the temperature do it slowly over a week period maybe 1 degree a day. Sudden changes overnight are never good.

mine is still eating fine, pretty aggresive. I did large water change last night, and will follow with more tonight.

I dropped my tmeperature 6-8 degrees over a 2-3 day period.

His skin did not look like it was peeling so bad last night just kind of loooks rough like ick?? Her eye is not cloudy but the out side diameter of the eye is slightly fuzzy.

Was the ray still eating during this period Mike or refusing to?

I do not know if mine had/has something different than everybody elses. Mine Hystrix last night looked normal. Not seeing anyore white coloration to her skin or spots. Eye's seem to be clear?

I wonder if like vamptrev said is water quality...?

I did a couple of huge waterchanges and now all looks fine. THe strange thing is that i tested my water and everything looked in good shape before and now... The more i thought about it i am only running a 150 with 4 rays...that is a lot of bioload. Even though they are all small........But i am a maintenece freak, i am always doing waterchanges and keeping up with my tanks....but maybe not enough... Especially when i added the armatus and started trying to get him to eat. So atleast i have good news for now and everything looks ok in my tank.
