Green Aro vs RTGG (no rematch)

Gotta admit the aro has amazing healing powers :). The tail is starting to grow back nicely and he eats like no tomorrow. For a while there i thought he might have been a goner.

The pic in the link is identical to how the tail looked after the fight but had redness around the wound.
I've heard somewhere that that aros can actually break off their tail to get away from danger (similar to what lizards do)

Damn!

I just picked up two 20cm RTGG's and added it with my 25cm Green Aro. So far so good, they look like they get along. Maybe you have an aggressive RTGG. It's pot luck on the behaviour of each fish. I even have small Geophagus Altifron's @ 5cms in there, still not eaten =)

I think it's just a case of an overly aggressive green, it seems to get along with everything else in the tank incl a frontosa, clown loaches and geos. Just hated the RTGG for some reason and i think the RTGG was just standing it's ground against the green.

Goodluck with keeping the fish together cos RTGG and aros look great together

Is it always like this? I'd like to introduce a little RTG-friend to my Banjar in the future or should I forget about this idea? Do you need a bigger group of aro's?

I've been keeping my RTGG with all sorts of aros and never had a problem. i really think it depends on the nature of the fish. Also, when I bought him at around 4" he was being kept with aros. He's now around 12" and still is docile.

Ok, so maybe they need to be introduced at the same time or something to prevent territorybehavior?

that would probably help absolutely. I think RTGG's are not as aggressive as other giant gouramis for some reason.
