Very true, the one I had was top dog and got his hump very early on with a tank full of pikes !

Then I sold off the pikes and housed him with other very agressive fish, such as RT as "Aquamonster" mentioned, RTM, and a black belt.

I love GT's but I have had the problem with "IP" on every attempt to raise one full grown. Your fish sounds like a winner good luck with it !!

Awesome tank fiend! What sized aquarium is the last photo with the black sand? Beauty! And what is "IP"?

female JD'S are pretty harmless. very little aggression unless breeding now there are many males that are straight killers

That's not always true, my female Dempsey is nuts. She gets even crazier when she's breeding.

To the OP, if you have a male and female GT, this is probably the males way of appealing to the female. He wants to spawn and they probably will in time. That explains the behavior IMO.

Just like the others have said he is establishing his dominance.
Mine did the same thing. He is housed with 2 male turquoise severums, and a firemouth. There was a little aggression for awhile, until the other 3 fish figured out that he was the boss and they pretty much stay out of his way. Now my tank is very peaceful, they all the swim around freely with out any problems as long as the terror gets his way everyone is happy.

Hopefully this will be case for you. It could also go the other way though. I would give it a little time see how it goes. Just keep a close eye on them and make sure no gets hurt.

Thx for the advice and help all.

At the moment he seems to have calmed down, hes not chasing the O and the JD back to their spots.

I totally agree with gator. The big downfall to this though is that if your GTs end up pairing off the rest of your stock is in big trouble. There will be alot more aggression and the pair will most likely tear the others apart.

And yea, I guess ur right about the fact he wants to mate. Because he has such amasing coloration at the moment.

That's why I think that's what he's doing, my Dempsey's color change big time when they want to spawn, plus their aggression is extremely high.

"IP" is internal parasite, GT's seem more prown to getting then other cichlids, and the tank was 90g.

posible nest of you Green Terrors :D

Weel I dont see a nest yet, the male chases the female all the time, but I think she isnt interested?
