Growing up blue

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
75g update, all mating behaviour has stopped and both JDs seem uninterested in each other, the female keeps her distance and the male only does light chasing. No one has any damaged fins or anything. Both come out to eat.

The other two EBJDs are eating daily now, their growth is much less than the jd in the 75g tank, though I’m pretty sure this is due to refusing to eat for almost a week.

So the runt aka zippy has been sent to his new forever home today, I may have even made a new fish friend!! She was a lovely lady who will take very good care of him!

Also bought some large pieces of drift wood for a steal of a price, they were water logged at one time but now they float so I’m battling with those to get them to sink....re arranged my tanks to try and weigh them down, hopefully it won’t be longer than a couple of weeks to make them sink...

The ebjd in the 75g might have a new name, someone suggested Turk, I kind of like it and it might stick.

The other ebjd I still have seems to be a Rosco so that name is sticking...I also haven’t posted pics of the other EBJDs in a while.

The last picture of zippy before he left.

And a picture of rosco in his tank with everything on top of the drift wood...gosh this better sink soon, the tank annoys me the way it looks now haha

One of the strategies that I have used was to take some aquarium grade silicone and silicone the wood to some flat pieces of slate. Then you can cover the slate with your substrate so you can’t even see it.

That’s a good idea! I’m just not sure how I want this piece to sit in my tank, might angle it to stand up to fill in some of the upper column

Turk and the female within the 75g tank have seemed to stop courting, Turk chases her and she darts away (in dark colors).

Mollies have a 10g tank to breed in right now, they get swapped in and out of the 75g tank, I have about 15 babies from two different fry drops.

The lone ebjd is doing well, more active , out in the open, and eating well.

Updated pics,

Cute JDs, look at them fat little bellies!
Love your tanks, my JDs loved plants as well. Was fun watching them chase each other, dashing thru all the stems.

Thank you, you have lovely tanks as well! They don’t seem to bother the plants, wish I could get the plants to grow, seems like they are slowly dying! they just ate before these pictures, I still think I feed too much, they eat quick, I didn’t think I put much food in as they finish eating within 2 mins but they could continue eating until they burst I suspect!

With work and school I’ve been kept very busy.

Missed my last set of water changes that were due on Saturday. Did two water changes today on two tanks, tomorrow I will do water changes on the other two tanks.

Also, the 75g tank with the male and female jd was really warm so I turned off the heaters today during the water change, going to see how low the temperature drops...the house ambient temperature is about 24-26, this is pretty much as cool as the house will be for the remainder of spring and well into summer. I might be able to let the tanks stay at room temperature for a while.
