You obviously know nothing about Excellent quality FlowerHorns that can go anywhere from 200.00 to 500.00 for a 3" FH.......... But being from NH you probably get mostly low quality trimacs labeled FH so i guess you wouldn't know. It is a nice looking fish without a doubt but is still rated very low in quality compared to a high priced specimen. I have a 3.5" Blue Dragon ZZ that ill post pics of soon so you can see what high quality is.

i'll be waiting for the pic of your blue dragon ZZ...i want to see a high quality FH :naughty:

by the way how do you judge a high quality FH?...do you base it on the price of the fish? :naughty: ... not all high priced FH are high quality and not all low priced fish are also low quality...i judge the quality of a FH based on the looks of it :grinno:

this FH is not a low quality fish :)

Arki is exactly right Quality and price are two different things that you are confusing. If you think this is a low quality flowerhorn, then YOU know nothing about FH. Further more If your rockin even a $200 BD at 3.5" you got taken. If you don't like my taste in fish that is fine, to each his own, but I can tell the difference between a male and a female

we are all waiting for your high quality BD pics....

well the pic you posted it looked like it had a u shaped vent which is female and the fact that it has no hump made me think it was female but its just a low quality male thats all...sorry.

i dont see any vent shots on the posted pics...which U shaped vent are you talking about? :grinno: ...FYI, FH w/out big humps or KOK as they are called are not all female...there are male FH that has no humps and there are female FH that has big humps...i hope you take note of this things :grinno:

this is a female red kamfa...but look at the hump

i hope before you tell anybody that they know nothing about Excellent quality FlowerHorns...you should know first what you're talking about! :naughty: :grinno:

Merlin, the Fh is definately a male. No vent shot were in my original pics, and a the presence or absence of a kok (hump) is not a reliable way to sex any cichlid. I do have a a possible female lined up for him. The trimac he bred is also very nice. I don't plan on selling the babies or flooding any local shop with them. I just wanted to breed him/her.

You guys obviously dont have access to high quality flowerhorns. 200.00 is nothing on a 3" FH hell there are some golden monkeys that go upward towards 500.00. I'm not trying to be rude at all just stating the facts. And for the question about whats top quality means is 1. Hump is a must even at 3" for a good FH 2. Long strands from the dorsal fins even at 3" and 3. must have spectacular coloring with at least a double flower on the head. My 3.5 " male is about 3.5 inches and his dorsal fins have strands that extend about 2" past the tip of his tail and his hump is already pretty thick and last he has a triple flower on his head. In china town in seattle i've seen golden monkeys for 600.00 that are flat out unreal in all 3 catagories.............

It's not a crazy mystery on how to get a good quality flowerhorn. They have group buys on FHUSA all the time. I never said that a 3.5" FH can't be $200, they are all the time all you have to do is go look at aquabid. All we were saying is that just because a FH is $10 doesn't mean it can't turn out to be a quality fish.

All your descriptions are of old strains. Extended Trailors are a trait found in old Gen BD's and RD's. The best finnage is a wrapped tail, and if you need to see an example Akri's Kamfa is a good one. Head flower spots are another old trait. You mentioned GM's, a true GM is flowerless

Here is a true GM from their birthplace, malaysia. Notice how it doesn't start out that great, and then ends up a masterpiece:

This member (sonny) is doing another group buy in mid september if you are interested Rec. They are shipped into Cali so shipping wouldn't be that bad $60 overnighted to NH... He usually sells 3-4" GM fry for $70, and you can pick out your own 8-9" GM for $250 but there are a limited amount.
