I think this thread got off to an unfortunate start, the use of "grow out" and "tea cup" seem to go hand in hand with the typical "my tank is too small but I am going to get a bigger one" type of problem.
To the OP you seem to be very clear that you WILL get a bigger tank so that is fine, please do not take offence and please do not get aggressive, it makes you look like the typical person I was describing in my first paragraph.
