Growthrate and max size- Marbles vs Motoro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its not a species or variant thing. More like genitics . Just like all animals in life. Some are bigger than others in every animal or creature . It's a hobby it's very probable many of you guys have got marbles from similar strains possibly bred in captivity and been passed around the hobby.
You don't need pictures for proof ,id say just common sense

And their have been study's by professionals on marbles and they are just a morph or a different species of motoro .

Here is a photo of proof 40" motoro caught by a fisherman. Theirs always a bigger fish too . Wouldn't be surprised if theirs a 50" motoro . Remember this is only rod and reel . It's not easy to catch big trophy fish

And needless to say but I will anyways look at the weight db 75lbs.
It's a fact theirs heavier motoros than that also.

Bumping this thread up to encourage people to post some BIG Marbles.

I've been waiting years to see a nice Marble that's a proven 2'+

Please help. Someone HAS to have one. Especially since they can reach 4'+

Nothing funner then proving someone wrong. Here's another chance since nobody could a year and a half ago.

John, I KNOW yours was big, and no doubt morphed into a beautiful Marble, but I would have to say it didn't really fit the top shelf Marble requirement in its earlier years. I really believe the nicer they are as juvies, the higher the chances are of them obtaining a smaller max size.
I consider this girl very much top shelf !!!! But this is my opinion ....I have had her for a year she is wild caught from all accounts and what i can figure she is about 4 years old That said she has put about 1.5 to two inches on her disc since i have had her she is as of now 15.5 inch disc ...I hope this thread gains momentum could be interesting lets have a nice thread not a big mess HUH guys?????:)

:DOH!!!! so what i figure is if she continues at this pace IF she reaches the age of Richards witch i hope she does:Dshe should get 20 inches or more someday:headbang2

Motoro 18-20 inch disc... Larger marble 16-17 inch disc. Two smaller females are 13-14... I have had the motoro for 3 years now she was 14 when I got her... Has put on ALOT of size... Housed in 600 gallon pond... 6-8 gph drop and 1-50% water change a week. She eats once sometimes twice a day... Anything from pellets to gel food and any kind of fish.... She puts back more then any ray I have ever seen...Scott "tanglovers" has a beastly superspot as well as a few big marble girls I'm sure he will chime
In..

You guys are missing the point. Superspots and Motoros are not nice Marbles.

Ed, that is a very nice ray. I really hope you get her to 2'. But I bet in 5 years you will still be striving for that 2'.

Db those nice marbles are obviously coming from the same parents or gene pool. And your missing the point.marbles don't look as nice when they are 20" plus.a 8-12" marble is when it's best looking. You know this. You guys got a strain that's making nice marbles but staying smaller. Give them a real big tank feed twice a day and I still bet yours will get over 20"

What's the age and size of these nice marbles you got

The problem here is nobody has kept the same rays or marble rays for a long enough time. Everybody keeps trading, buying, selling and then guessing their rays age after it has been through a few owners hands. A few years of keeping rays is no testament to knowing anything about the potential size of their ray. Come back in another 5 years after keeping the same marbles in a large enough environment for at least 7 to 10+ years and then tell me your faded brown marble still only has a 15" disc.
